THE STATE PROCESS

State Criminal Defense Attorney

There is a step-by-step process for getting through criminal cases in the State Of Oklahoma strating with your arrest all the way to your appeal if your case ends in a conviction. Carla Stinnett can simplify that process through careful navigation of the State legal system.

If You're Arrested

Every case varies based on the charges and number of defendants. If there is a pre-charge investigation and you already have a lawyer, you may skip being arrested altogether. Even if you are actually guilty, a mitigation may provide a second chance.

Posting Bail

Once you have been charged with a crime, you will have a bail hearing. This is not an arraignment. If the charge is a felony, you will have an initial appearance where bail wil be set and you or your family will get the information to post a bond.

Preliminary Hearing

Not every county has a preliminary hearing, but they all have a pre trial conference. At this hearing they will decide if there is enough evidence to prosecute, and if a plea bargain can be reached. You could go to trial or the charges may be dropped.

Going To Trial

There are still other steps before your case goes to trial. But if it makes it this far, you are giong to need an experienced trial attorney. Stinnett Law has tried and won countless cases in the state of Oklahoma. See how we can help you.
